Questions in a live

Take questions in your live, put one on screen to answer it, and ask or vote for questions when you're watching.

In a live with questions on, people watching ask the host questions and vote for the ones they want answered. The host picks one and puts it on screen, so everyone knows what they're answering.

Take questions in your live

  • When you go live: turn on Take questions before tapping Go live.
  • During your live:
    • On a computer, tap Questions, then turn on Take questions.
    • On a phone, tap Viewers, then turn on Take questions.
  • Lives for an event take questions from the start. See Host an event.

Once questions are on, a Questions button shows for you and everyone watching. On your button, a number shows how many questions are waiting.

Calls and live penances don't have questions.

Answer a question

  1. Tap Questions. Waiting questions are listed with the most votes first.
  2. Tap Show on screen on the one you're answering. Everyone watching sees it across the top of the video, with the name of the person who asked.
  3. When you've answered it, tap Done on the question on your screen, or in Questions.
Questions, with the one on screen and the ones waiting

Putting another question on screen marks the one before as answered. Answered questions stay at the bottom of the list under Answered, and you can tap Show again.

Dismiss takes a question off the list (and off the screen, if it's up) without answering it.

To stop taking questions, turn off Take questions. The question on screen comes down, and nobody can ask until you turn it back on. The list is kept for when you do.

Ask a question

  1. In a live that's taking questions, tap Questions.
  2. Type your question (up to 200 characters) and tap Ask.
  3. Everyone watching can see it and vote for it. The host may put it on screen to answer it.
A question on screen, over the video
  • Vote for questions you want answered with the arrow next to them. Tap it again to take your vote back. You can't vote for your own.
  • Take back a question of yours that's still waiting.
  • You can ask one question every 20 seconds, and have up to 3 waiting at a time. Questions can't include links.

Guests watching from a public link can ask and vote too. Their questions show with 🌐 Public.

In your recording

If you record your live, a question you put on screen is in the recording too, for as long as it was up. Dismissed questions, and questions from someone you removed, are left out.

Good to know

  • If you've blocked someone, or they've blocked you, you don't see each other's questions in Questions. A question on screen from someone you've blocked isn't shown to you either.
  • Remove takes someone out of your live and takes their questions with them, including one on screen. Blocking someone does the same.
  • Questions are kept with the live's chat for 30 days, for reports, then deleted.
