Family powers and watching over

Family can help watch over a locked member: for example, Riley's Co-Dom Sam can review Riley's check-in photos. The keyholder always decides. Family members only get the powers the keyholder approves, and only while that keyholder holds the key.

When family can have powers

All four of these must be true:

1. The link is confirmed: the family member accepted it. See Family on your profile.
2. The title allows it: Dom, Domme, Co-Dom, Alpha, Owner, Sir, Mistress, Master, Daddy or Mommy. Other titles, and titles people type themselves, never carry powers.
3. The member has an active keyholder. If the family member is the keyholder, they already have every power.
4. That keyholder approved the power for that person.

Powers belong to the current pairing. When it ends, they end, and a new keyholder is asked to decide again. Changing the title to one that can't approve also ends them.

The four powers

• Review check-in photos: approve or reject photo check-ins, and undo within an hour.
• Acknowledge check-ins: mark check-ins as seen, and get check-in and missed check-in alerts.
• Decide check-in exceptions: approve or decline requests to skip or excuse a check-in, and give a penance. See Check-in exceptions.
• See the lock history: see every check-in and photo of the current lock.

So a family member sees check-in photos only when the link is confirmed, the title allows it, the member has an active keyholder, and that keyholder approved Review check-in photos (photos waiting for review) or See the lock history (every photo of the current lock).

For keyholders: decide what family can do

You get an alert when the person you hold has family with one of these titles: when your pairing starts, and whenever a new link like that is confirmed. Their card on your Home screen can show 👪 Family powers until you decide.

1. On your Home screen, tap the person under Your locked members, then scroll to the card called "Riley's family".
2. Tap Decide next to the family member (later, Change).
3. Tick what they can do. Review check-in photos and Acknowledge check-ins start ticked.
4. Tap Save powers, or No powers to leave them without any.

You can change or remove powers any time (Remove all powers). The family member and the person you hold are both told.

For family: the watch page

Once you have powers, a Watching over section appears on your Home screen, with what's waiting for you (for example "1 photo to review" from their current lock). Tap the person to open their watch page. You can also tap Open next to them on your Family page.

The watch page shows your title, their keyholder, your powers, and their lock: how long it's been running, the last check-in and when the next one is due, or their release. When a check-in is overdue, a red ⏳ line says when their lock will end on its own (see When a lock ends on its own). Below that you'll find:

• Requests to skip or excuse a check-in, if you can decide them.
• Their check-ins this lock, if you can acknowledge check-ins or see the lock history. With only Review check-in photos, you see just Photos to review.

To review, tap Review, look at the photo, add a note if you like, and tap Approve or Reject. Rejecting counts as a missed check-in and asks them to check in again. Only the keyholder can give a penance for a rejected photo. Tap Ack to mark a check-in as seen. The member is told who did it, with your title, like "Sam (Co-Dom) approved your check-in photo". What family can and can't see

• Without powers, family see what any member sees on a profile, and can message each other.
• With Acknowledge check-ins but not See the lock history, family see check-in times and notes, but photos stay hidden (unless they also have Review check-in photos and the photo is waiting for review).
• Family never see the diary, private messages, penances, tasks or earlier locks, and can't release the member or change their lock. Those stay between the member and their keyholder.
