Email preferences

Choose which emails CageCheck sends you, make them discreet, and unsubscribe from one kind of email.

CageCheck emails you about what matters to you, and you choose which kinds. Emails only go to a confirmed address, so confirm your email first.

Choose your emails

  1. Go to Settings and scroll to Email.
  2. Switch each kind on or off. Changes save straight away.

Every kind starts switched on:

  • Check-in reminders: reminders before a check-in, task or penance is due, missed check-ins, and keyholder nudges.
  • Important alerts: emergency unlocks, release requests, releases, schedule changes, new tasks and penances, missed tasks, safewords, and missed check-ins by people you hold.
  • Check-ins from people you hold: for keyholders, an email each time someone you hold checks in, including photo check-ins to review.
  • Pairing: new pairing requests, changes to your pairings, and contracts sent to you to sign.
  • Everyday activity: locks starting and ending, check-ins acknowledged, photos, tasks and penances approved, and updates on reports you made.
  • Messages: an email when messages have waited unread for a while. It never says what they say.
  • Diary: new diary entries from people you hold, replies, and prompts from your keyholder. Never what an entry says.
  • Community: new followers, comments on your posts, replies to your comments, @mentions, and people you follow going live.
  • Events: reminders the day before events you're going to or interested in, changes and cancellations, and requests to come to events you host. (New events from people you follow, and the hour-before reminder, are push notifications only.)
  • Announcements: occasional news and updates from CageCheck.
Email preferences in Settings

To quiet a single chat instead, open it, tap ••• and switch on Mute this chat. That stops its notifications and emails. See Private messages.

Discreet emails

Switch on Discreet emails in the same card for generic subject lines with no names or details. It's good for shared or work inboxes. Each email just says you have a new notification, and you sign in to see what it is.

Unsubscribe from an email

Every notification email has links at the bottom:

  • Email preferences opens these settings.
  • Unsubscribe from … (for example, "Unsubscribe from community") turns off just that kind. Tap it, then tap Unsubscribe on the page that opens.

Unsubscribing only stops the emails. You still see the same notifications in Alerts, and as push notifications if they're on. Turn a kind back on any time in Settings → Email.

Emails that always send

Account emails can't be switched off. They are:

  • confirming your email address, and reminders to do it;
  • password reset links, and notices that your password was changed;
  • notices about your account being suspended.

Still stuck? Ask in the community, or report a problem from the ••• menu on any post or profile. In an emergency, use emergency unlock or your safeword: they always work and never cost anything.
