Privacy and safety

Control who sees what, keep CageCheck discreet on your device, and know the safety tools that are always there.

Who can see what

  • The community, profiles and posts are only visible to signed-in members.
  • Your email, and the legal name and birthday from ID verification, are never shown to other members.
  • Check-in photos and penance proof are private: only you, your current keyholder, family members your keyholder has allowed (see Family powers and watching over), and CageCheck admins when needed can see them.

Privacy settings

Go to Settings. In Profile & privacy:

  • Show my lock streak on my profile (locked members): other members see how long you've been locked. Your keyholder always can.
  • Show sensitive photos without blur: photos and videos marked as showing nudity or sexual content stay blurred until you tap them, unless this is on.
  • Ask before showing check-in photos and proof: photos and videos stay hidden until you tap View, so you can open alerts safely in public. It's on to start with.
  • Suggest me to other members: lets your profile appear in "Suggested for you". Members can still find you by searching your name. See Find members to follow.
Profile & privacy settings

In Messages, choose who can start a chat with you: Everyone, People I follow or Nobody. Your keyholder, the people you hold and your family can always message you. See Private messages.

In Activity in the feed, choose who sees your check-ins, lock starts and endings, milestones, penances and achievements as feed posts: Followers, All members or Off. Photos, check-in notes and penance details are never shown. See Activity in the feed.

Keep it discreet on this device

In This device (these only change the phone or computer you're using):

  • Hide explicit branding: shows a neutral "CC" name and tab title.
  • Blur all images: every photo and video in the feed, profiles and galleries stays blurred until you tap it.
  • Share anonymous usage stats: tells CageCheck which pages and features get used, never your name, messages, photos or who you talk to. Switch it off if you'd rather not.

For your inbox, turn on Discreet emails. See Email preferences.

Safety tools that are always there

  • Emergency unlock ends your lock straight away, whoever holds your key, and lets your keyholder know. See Emergency unlock.
  • Your safeword declines any task or penance. There's no penalty, and your keyholder is told so you can talk it through. See Safeword.
  • Ending a pairing: either of you can end a pairing at any time.
  • Block and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable. See Block and report.

Adults only

CageCheck is only for adults: 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live.

  • Everyone confirms they're 18 or older when they sign up.
  • Going live, coming on camera, video calls, sending photos in messages, hosting events and sharing photos all need a verified ID. See Verify your ID.
  • If you think someone is under 18, report them with Appears to be under 18. These reports are treated as urgent.
  • If a member's ID, or the birthday they give, shows they're under 18, their account is flagged for admins, who suspend or delete it. ID photos of anyone under 18 are deleted straight away.

The rules everyone agrees to

Every member agrees to the Terms of Service, the Acceptable Use Policy and the Content and Model Release. They say what's allowed, and that you only post content of adults who agreed to it, shown to the people you choose. See Terms and policies.
