Account settings

Open Settings

• Phone: tap More, then Settings (or open your profile from the top of More and tap ⚙ Settings or Edit profile).
• Tablet or computer: click your picture at the top of the side menu, then Settings.

Your profile basics

The top of Settings has what other members see first:

• Change photo: pick a photo, crop, zoom or rotate it, then tap Save photo. Profile photos show everywhere, so keep them non-explicit. Remove takes yours off.
• Display name: up to 40 characters. Leave it empty and your @username shows instead.
• Bio: up to 1,000 characters.
• Website, Links and Social profiles.

Tap Save profile when you're done. Your @username can't be changed. For your photo gallery and what others see on your profile, see Your profile and Family on your profile.

Change your password

1. In the Account card, type your Current password and a New password (8+ characters).
2. Tap Change password.

You stay signed in on this device, and every other device is signed out. CageCheck emails you to let you know your password changed.

Forgot your password?

1. On the sign-in page, tap Forgot password?
2. Enter the email on your account and tap Send reset link.
3. Open the link in the email within 1 hour.
4. Choose a new password, then tap Save and sign in.

Your email address

Your email shows in the Account card. Until you've confirmed it, you can fix a typo with Wrong address? in the confirm banner. Once it's confirmed, it can't be changed in the app. See Confirm your email.

Switch your role

1. In the Role card, tap 🔒 Locked, 🗝 Keyholder or 🔁 Switch. A line under it says what that role is, and what you'd need to end first.
2. Tap Switch to locked member, Switch to keyholder or Become a switch.

• Becoming a switch works at any time. Your lock and pairings carry on.
• Between Locked and Keyholder: you'll need to end any lock you have running, and end or cancel your pairings, first.
• From Switch: to be Locked, first end the pairings (and cancel the requests) where you'd hold someone's keys. To be a Keyholder, first end your own lock and your keyholder's pairing. See Being a switch.

Sign out

Tap Sign out near the bottom of Settings. On a tablet or computer you can also click your picture at the top of the side menu and choose Sign out.

Delete your account

1. At the very bottom of Settings, tap Delete account.
2. If CageCheck shared posts to X or Bluesky for you, Also delete what I shared to X and Bluesky is ticked, and those posts are deleted too. Untick it to leave them up.
3. Enter your password.
4. Tap Delete forever.

This permanently deletes your profile, posts, photos, messages, locks, check-ins, pairings and ID verification. It can't be undone. Anyone you're paired with is told your account was closed, and nobody can take your username for 30 days.

If you're in a combination lockbox or smart lockbox lock, end it first (emergency unlock works), so you get your code or your box opens before your account is gone. If it ended less than a week ago, you're asked to tick I have my code, or my box is open first.

Posts you shared yourself (with Share anywhere) stay on X or Bluesky: delete them there. See Share to X, Bluesky and anywhere.

There's no way to download a copy of your data at the moment.

Switching it off brings the usual look back straight away, on all your devices. With it off, CageCheck gives your browser the usual icon too. An app already on your Home Screen may keep the seasonal icon until the season ends (some phones take a day or two to update it).
