Activity in the feed

The short posts CageCheck adds when you check in, start or end a lock, finish a task or hit a milestone, and how to choose who sees them or turn them off.

Besides the posts you write, CageCheck can add short activity posts to the feed so people can cheer you on. Members can react to them and comment on them like any other post.

What gets posted

  • Check-ins: "checked in ยท Day 12", with "(late)" if it was late. A photo check-in under a keyholder shows Waiting for review, then โœ“ Approved by Morgan or Rejected by Morgan. To keep feeds readable there's at most one check-in post every 3 hours, but a photo waiting for review always gets one.
  • Locking back up after a release.
  • A new lock, with its check-in schedule.
  • A lock ending: "was released by Morgan after 30 days", "ended their lock after 30 days", or "stopped checking in, so their lock ended after 30 days". An emergency unlock shows as an ordinary ending.
  • Milestones: 7, 14, 30, 60, 90, 100, 180, 365, 500, 730 and 1,000 days locked.
  • Tasks: "completed a task from Morgan" when your keyholder accepts a task or you mark it done. If you agreed to let your keyholder post your proof and they post it, that post takes its place (see Proof on the feed). It never says what the task was. At most one every 3 hours, so daily tasks don't fill the feed.
  • Penances: "was given a penance by Morgan", "was given a penance by Morgan for missing a task", and "completed a penance from Morgan".
  • Private tasks are different: when one is done, the post shows only on your feed and your keyholder's, with a ๐Ÿ”’ Private badge. If you miss one and a penance is issued, everyone else only sees that you were given a penance for not completing a private task. See Private tasks.
  • Challenges you complete and achievements you earn (see Challenges and Achievements).
  • Lives: "is live" with a Watch button, which becomes "was live" when it ends.
  • Events you host: "is hosting Baltimore bar night", with the day and the city, and a See event button. It's posted when you create the event (you can untick Post it in the feed), goes to the same people who can see the event, and never shows the exact place. See Events.

Activity posts never show photos, check-in notes, what a task is, or what a penance asks you to do. Two things you choose to post are different: check-ins you post with their photo or video (see Check-ins on the feed) and penance videos (see Penance videos in the feed).

When a check-in's photo or video is on the feed, its post stands in for that check-in's activity post, so the check-in doesn't show twice. You can also add the photo to a "checked in" post later: tap ๐Ÿ“ท Add the photo to this post on it.

You can share your own activity posts outside CageCheck too, as a streak card or text: tap โ†— Share (see Share to X, Bluesky and anywhere).

Riley's activity posts on their profile

Choose who sees your activity

  1. Open Settings (on your phone: More, then Settings).
  2. Scroll to Activity in the feed.
  3. Pick one:
    • Followers (the default): people who follow you. Your keyholder follows you automatically when you pair.
    • All members: anyone signed in to CageCheck.
    • Off: nothing new is posted (private task posts included), and your past activity is visible only to you.

The change applies to your past activity too, not just new posts.

Under the same heading, Post new achievements turns achievement posts on or off. Your achievements still show on your profile either way.

Lives work a little differently: when you go live, the post goes to the audience you picked for that live, even if your activity is Off. Choose Only people with the link when you start a live to keep it out of the feed (see Go live).

The Activity in the feed settings

Remove one activity post

  1. Tap โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข on the activity post.
  2. Tap Remove from feed, then Remove.

It's removed for everyone, along with its comments and reactions. Your check-ins and lock history aren't affected. The same menu has a shortcut to Activity settings.
