Video check-ins
When a check-in needs a photo, record a short video instead. How long it can be, what's stamped on it, and who sees it.
When a check-in needs a photo, you can record a video instead. It's a good way to show more than one picture can, like the lock from every side.
How long it can be
- Player (free): up to 30 seconds.
- Player+ and Pro: up to 2 minutes. See Plans and badges.
Record a video check-in
- Open the check-in page (Check in now on Home).
- In the Photo or video check-in card, tap 🎥 Record video.
- Pick a camera with ⇄ Flip if you need to, then tap the red round button. REC and a timer show while it records, with sound.
- Tap ■ Stop. It also stops by itself at the limit.
- Watch it back, then tap Use this video, or Record again.
- Add a mood or a note if you like, and tap ✓ Confirm — still locked.
Nothing reaches your keyholder until you check in. If you don't use a video, it's deleted.
What's on it
Like a photo, the video gets a band underneath with your check-in code, a serial number, your @username and the time it was recorded. It has to be recorded in the CageCheck app; you can't pick a video from your library. Your keyholder is warned if a video looks like it wasn't recorded just then.
What happens next
Your keyholder (or a family member they let review your photos) watches it and approves or rejects it, the same as a photo. Getting a video ready takes a moment after you check in, so they may see Getting the video ready first. See Photo check-ins for how reviews work.
Videos are private: only you, your keyholder while you're paired, family members your keyholder lets review your photos or see your lock history, and CageCheck's moderators can see them. They can't be shared on the feed or downloaded, and they're kept as long as your check-in photos, then deleted.
