🔒 Your lock

If your keyholder is away

If your keyholder hasn't been on CageCheck for a week, or can't use it for now, you can end your lock yourself.

Your keyholder decides when you're released. But if they haven't been on CageCheck for a week, you shouldn't be stuck waiting.

Release yourself

When your keyholder hasn't been on CageCheck for 7 days, a card appears on your lock page: Morgan has been away a week, with when they were last on.

  1. Tap Release myself.
  2. Tap End my lock to confirm, or Keep my lock to carry on.

Your lock ends and is saved to your history as Released myself (keyholder away). Morgan is told you released yourself. With a Beta lockbox, your way out opens straight away: your code, or your box is told to unlock (see How your lock is locked).

The card goes away as soon as Morgan is back on CageCheck.

If your keyholder can't use CageCheck right now

Sometimes CageCheck needs to check a member's ID again, and their account is paused until it's done. If that's your keyholder, they can't release you meanwhile, so you don't have to wait a week: the card says Morgan can't use CageCheck right now straight away. Release myself works the same way, and Morgan is told when they're back.

Before that

  • Send Morgan a message, or ask for a release (see Timed release).
  • If you'd rather not wait, you can end the pairing from the Keyholder tab. Your lock then becomes self-managed. See Pair with a keyholder.
