Unwrapped

The holiday game, Nov 27 to Dec 31. Each day you check in, open a gift: XP, ribbons, snowflakes, a cold snap to do or a mug of cocoa. Keyholders decide each gift, and can wrap some ahead.

Unwrapped runs from Wrap Day, November 27, to New Year's Eve, December 31, 2026. Each day you check in, you open one gift. It's just for fun: nothing in Unwrapped changes your lock, its timer or your keyholder's rules. Days are your own calendar, wherever you live.

Open your gifts

  1. Check in as usual.
  2. Open Game Center, then Unwrapped (or tap the card on your Home screen).
  3. Tap Open it.

You can open one gift for each day you checked in. Check-ins since November 27 count, even from before your first visit (those earlier days hold XP, ribbons and snowflakes only). With several waiting, Open all of them opens them in one go.

What's inside

  • XP: 20 XP toward your Game Center level.
  • Ribbons: 1, 2 or 3. Ribbons are the holiday's currency (see below).
  • A snowflake: four of them earn the Snow Globe badge.
  • A cold snap: a little winter dare, proved with your next check-in within 48 hours. For example, a paper snowflake in your check-in photo. Doing it earns XP: more for harder ones.
  • A mug of cocoa: your next cold snap from the house is skipped.

Cold snaps are safe for work and done on your own: props and drawings in your check-in photo, never writing on skin. Tier 3 cold snaps are a short video, and they only turn up if you switch on Harder dares near the bottom of the page.

Ribbons

Spend ribbons on:

  • A peek (1 ribbon): see what your next gift from the house is.
  • A plea (2 ribbons): ask for a cold snap one tier easier.
  • A reroll (3 ribbons, once a season): swap a cold snap from the house for another one. With a keyholder, plead instead: rerolls are for playing on your own.

The Frost

A day that ends without a check-in while your check-in is overdue, the Frost takes a ribbon. A cold snap that runs out unproved takes a ribbon too. Neither happens while your account is waiting on something (an ID check, new terms, confirming your email) or your tasks and penances are paused, and a check-in you took offline counts from when you took it.

With a keyholder

If you have a keyholder, they play too, from the Wrapper tab:

  • Every gift from the house goes to them first. They can let it stand, swap it for another card (you get 2 ribbons), or make it colder (a cold snap one tier harder). If they don't decide within 12 hours, it stands.
  • They can wrap gifts ahead. On a calendar of your days up to New Year's Eve, they can wrap a reward, one of their own dares, or just a note. You can't tell which days hold one until you open it: it says Wrapped by and their name. A wrapped reward or note also gives you 10 XP.
  • Pleas go to them: they can say yes (one tier easier) or no (your ribbons come back).
  • Proof of a cold snap goes to them to accept, or to send back so you can prove it again.

A switch plays both sides: their own gifts, and the Wrapper tab for the people whose keys they hold.

Your safeword

Use my safeword on any cold snap, from the house or wrapped by your keyholder, and it's dropped. There's never a penalty, and it works even while your account is waiting on something.

Badges and the leaderboard

  • All Wrapped Up: a check-in every day from November 27 to December 31.
  • Snow Globe: four snowflakes.
  • The Leaderboard has most gifts opened, most ribbons and most cold snaps done.
