The feed and your posts

How the Community feed works, how to write a post with photos, a video, a poll, links and @mentions, and who can see it.

The feed is where members share how their journey is going and cheer each other on. Open it with Feed in the tab bar on your phone, or Feed in the side menu on a computer or tablet. The page itself is called Community.

Only signed-in members can see the feed. Nothing in it is public.

Everyone and Following

At the top of the feed there are two tabs:

  • Everyone shows every post you're allowed to see, newest first.
  • Following shows only posts from people you follow, plus your own.

Scroll to the bottom and tap Load older posts to see more. Tap the time on a post to open it on its own page.

Members who are live right now appear as round bubbles above the tabs. Tap one to watch, or tap All lives. To start your own, tap Go live (see Go live).

You never see posts from members you've blocked, or who have blocked you.

The Community feed on a phone

Write a post

  1. Tap the box that says Share how it's going… (@ to mention someone) at the top of the feed. On a computer, keyholders can also use New post in the side menu.
  2. Write your post. It can be up to 2,000 characters.
  3. Choose who can see it in the menu next to the buttons: All members or Followers only.
  4. Tap Post.

If you're locked, you can tick Show my current lock streak on this post to add a gold badge with how many days you've been locked.

Writing a post and mentioning someone

Posting on different days, and week after week, earns achievements like Regular and Week after week. See Achievements.

Add photos

  1. Tap πŸ“· Photos and pick one or more photos.
  2. If you picked one, the editor opens: choose Original, Square or Portrait, zoom or rotate. If you picked several, you see them in a list, and you can tap βœ‚ Crop on any of them.
  3. Answer Does this show nudity or sexual content? with Yes or No for every photo. Nothing is picked to start with, so you choose each time. With several photos, Same answer for all answers them all at once, and you can still change any one of them.
  4. Tap Add to post (or Add 3 photos, or however many you picked). It turns on once every photo has an answer.

A post can have up to 5 photos on Player and 12 on Player+ and Pro. Tap βœ• on a thumbnail to take a photo out before you post.

Photos and videos you keep in My media are under πŸ—‚οΈ My media in the post box: they get the same editor and question.

In the feed, a post shows up to four photos, with "+2" (and so on) on the last one when there are more. Tap a photo to see it full size, then swipe or use the arrows to move between them.

Photos you answered Yes for stay blurred for other members until they tap them, unless they've chosen to see sensitive content. You can change how blurring works for you: see Privacy and safety.

Add a video

Tap πŸŽ₯ Video to record a video in the app or choose one from your phone or computer, up to 2 minutes, and trim it before you post. A post with a video can't also have photos or a poll. See Post a video.

Ask a question with a poll

  1. Tap the box at the top of the feed, then tap πŸ“Š Poll.
  2. Write your question in the box (it now says Ask a question…).
  3. Fill in the options: 2 to start with, and + Add option for up to 4. Each can be up to 60 characters, and no two can be the same.
  4. Choose how long it runs: 1 hour, 6 hours, 1 day, 3 days or 1 week.
  5. Tap Post.

Tap Remove poll to go back to an ordinary post. A post with a poll can't have photos, and a post with photos can't have a poll.

Writing a poll

Voting

  • Tap an option to vote. You get one vote, and it can't be changed.
  • Once you've voted, you see the results: each option's share of the votes, with your vote marked.
  • Before you vote you see only the options, so the results don't sway you. Whoever asked sees the results all along.
  • When the poll ends, everyone sees the final results, with the winner highlighted, and whoever asked gets an alert saying how it ended.

Votes are anonymous. Everyone sees the counts, but nobody (not even whoever asked) sees who voted for what.

A poll in a Followers only post can only be seen, and voted in, by your followers.

A poll after voting

Paste a web link and, once you pause typing, CageCheck shows a preview card for the first link in your post: the page's picture, title and description. A link to a post on X shows its author, text and first photo.

X doesn't show some posts outside X: age-restricted posts, deleted ones and posts from protected or suspended accounts. For those, the card says whose post it is and why it can't be shown, with Open on X. A link to an X profile shows the @name. If X doesn't answer, the card says so, and CageCheck tries again later.

Tap βœ• on the card to post without the preview. The link stays in your text and is still clickable. Posts with photos or a video don't show a link preview.

Mention someone

Type @ and the start of a username, then pick the member from the list. Once posted, the @name links to their profile and they get a notification, as long as they can see the post. Someone you mention in a Followers only post who doesn't follow you isn't told.

Alert your followers: @followers and @highlight

Got something everyone should see? Put one of these in your post, or in the caption when you post a video from My videos:

  • @followers sends your followers an alert (and a push, if they've turned push on). With a very large following, it goes to the 5,000 who were on CageCheck most recently.
  • @highlight alerts a smaller group: the followers who've reacted to or commented on your posts most in the last 30 days (up to 100).

Type @f or @h in the box and they're offered first. When you post, CageCheck tells you how many followers are being alerted.

  • Once every 12 hours: @followers once every 12 hours, and @highlight once every 12 hours counting @followers too (they already got that one). If you use one again sooner, the post goes up but nobody is alerted, and CageCheck tells you when you can use it again. Nobody gets two of these alerts from you within 12 hours.
  • If nobody could be alerted, it doesn't count: you can use it again right away.
  • People you @mention by name get their own "mentioned you" alert instead.
  • Followers can turn these alerts off in Settings β†’ Push notifications.

Who can see your posts

  • All members: anyone signed in to CageCheck.
  • Followers only: only people who follow you. These posts show πŸ‘₯ Followers next to the time.

Photos and videos in a post are only shown to people who can see that post.

Under your own posts, πŸ‘ shows how many members each one has been shown to, once a day each. Only you see it: tap it for Your stats.

CageCheck can also add short posts for you when you check in, start or end a lock, finish a task, or reach a milestone. See Activity in the feed. Your check-in photos and videos can go on the feed too, one at a time or all of them: see Check-ins on the feed.

Share a post

Tap β†— Share under any of your own posts (videos and activity posts too) to share it outside CageCheck: from your phone's share sheet, X's or Bluesky's own post box, or a connected account. Posts that only you and your keyholder can see, like a private task, can't be shared. See Share to X, Bluesky and anywhere.

Delete a post

Posts can't be edited. To change one, delete it and post again.

  1. Tap β€’β€’β€’ on your post.
  2. Tap Delete post, then Delete post again to confirm.

The post is removed for everyone, along with its photos, comments and reactions. Copies CageCheck posted for you on X or Bluesky are deleted too (see Share to X, Bluesky and anywhere). Ones you posted yourself with Share anywhere stay until you delete them there. A video goes back to My videos, where it's kept privately for 7 days.

If someone else's post makes you uncomfortable, tap β€’β€’β€’ on it to 🚩 Report or β›” Block the member.
